Professional Artist voted best trade/technical magazine in Florida

Professional Artist — the foremost business magazine for visual artists — took home three awards from the Florida Magazine Association (FMA), including two first-place Charlie Awards for Best Overall Magazine and Best Cover.

Each year the FMA recognizes excellence in the Florida publishing industry at the FMA Annual Publishing Conference & Exposition. This year, Professional Artist was awarded the following honors:

• Charlie Award (1st): Best Overall Magazine (Trade/Technical) . We submitted three consecutive issues for review: October/November 2014, December 2014/January 2015 and February/March 2015. Professional Artist’s team is made up of Publisher Jannett Roberts, Editor Gigi Rosenberg, Art Director Kristen Schaeffer-Santoni and Assistant Editor Jenny Andreasson.

• Charlie Award (1st): Best Cover (Trade/Technical) – “April/May 2015 Issue.” The art on the cover is Love Letters, 2013, by Sarah Jarrett. Mediums used were digital photography, collage and painting. Read more about the artist on Page 42 of the issue.

• Bronze Award: Best Feature Design (Trade/Technical) – “How Artists Use Twitter,” October/November 2014. This piece was designed by Art Director Kristen Schaeffer-Santoni, written by Vicki Krohn Amorose and featured the recurring work titled withafterbetween, 2014, by artist Marie Kazalia.
