Professional Artist, the only business magazine for visual artists, recently went in search of images that represent our readers, as professional artists, during our inaugural Portrait of a Professional Artist call, part of Professional Artist Month.

We loved getting a glimpse into the images that resonate with you and serve as metaphors for your hectic, multitasked, wonderful and creative lives. Out of about 150 entries, here is our top pick: Brandon Douglas. Mr. Douglas will be published in the October/November 2014 issue of Professional Artist magazine. See his entry below.

The top 22 finalists are now posted on our Facebook page!

Thanks to all who entered!

Portrait of a Professional Artist top pick: Brandon Douglas (BrandonDouglas.net)

My most recent self portrait captures what it is to me to be a professional artist. In the image I am portrayed doing many things at once, a nod to the constant balancing of time. I feel that is the one thing I continually wish for in life is more hours in a day. I’ve portrayed myself working on the portrait of my wife. She is my rock and inspiration and this is just one more way I can spend time with her. I feel this piece shows not only my struggle to create, but my passion as well.
