Lenina Olivas earned her Master’s degree from the University of Colorado in Political Science. Shortly after graduation, she had three life changing surgeries where she asked “Am I really focusing on what makes me happy? What are all of the things I’ve always wanted to do and have not done?” During her recovery time, she made a list of all of the things she had wanted to do but was too busy focusing on earning her degree.
On the list was art modeling and paining. She modeled for her first artist in 2013 and was introduced to the exciting world of art. While posing for hours on end, she developed friendships with artists and picked up on their language. She went from modeling for sculptors, to various mediums of paining, photography, and finally print ads. She decided to transition from modeling and being the subject of the art to being the artist and creating the art herself.
Since then she’s been in a handful of shows along the Front Range. Her paintings are prominently displayed for sale in Rabbask Design in downtown Loveland and on display in the Colorado State Capital. Her work will also be displayed in the Fourth Street Gallery in downtown Loveland in April.
