Emily Stout grew up along the upper portion of the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois. She received her BFA in Printmaking from The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2006 and earned her MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art with an emphasis on Temporary Installation in Public Space at The Memphis College of Art and Design in 2011. Her work has been published in New American Paintings 2011 No. 93, Wooster Collective’s online forum, and has most recently been awarded Artist Trust’s 2015 Grants for Artist Projects for her current body of work entitled “Earth Body”.
