Devan Horton is an artist from Covington, Kentucky who recently graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a BFA in painting. Horton’s work is all environmentally motivated, mostly dealing with phenomenon, such as swarming behavior or apophenia. While she primarily is a painter, she loves experimenting with all mediums, including ceramics and sculpture. Horton also pushes the limits of traditional tools by including sand and powdered felt into her paints. She is greatly influenced by the artwork of Picasso, H.R. Giger, Mark Rothko and Boo Saville. A lot of Horton’s work appears abstracted, even though the subject is painted realistically. For more on Horton and her work, visit devanhorton.com.
