Ansar M. Smith is a 19- year-old photographer and videographer based in Los Angeles. Smith’s work is half inspired by the visual aesthetics of filmmakers, such as Stanley Kubrick and Jean-Luc Godard. 80s new wave and British post-punk, such as The Cure, are also huge contributors to his aesthetic. At its core, Smith’s work focuses simply on the human desire for ecstasy found in sex, love or companionship. Smith manipulates his images by using various exposures to peel back what lies behind our faces in a Freudian subconscious way.
