THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

One of the largest and most prestigious museums of modern art in the world, MoMA’s collections provide an overview of modern and contemporary art. It has become the home for some of the greatest and diverse works of modern art, ranging from late-19th-century to present-day.

THE WHITNEY MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART

The Whitney is one of the most influential museums of 20th- and 21st-century art in the United States. It was founded in 1931, by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, and its permanent collection boasts an extensive 2o,ooo works by 3,000 artists.

THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is the largest art museum in the country, and is one of the most frequented art museums in the world. Displaying 5,000 years of art from all over the world, it was founded in 1870 and has offered a view to global cultures to visitors since that time.

THE FRICK COLLECTION

The Frick Collection is an art museum that houses the collection of industrialist Henry Clay Frick and is located in his breathtaking former residence. On display are major works of Old Master paintings, sculpture and 18th-century furniture.

THE SOLOMON R. GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM

The architecturally unique Guggenheim is the permanent home of a world-class collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early modern and contemporary art.

The cylindrical building, wider at the top than the bottom, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM

At 560,000 square feet, the Brooklyn Museum is New York City’s third-largest art museum and boasts a collection of roughly 1.5 million works. Founded in 1895, the Beaux-Arts building was envisioned to be the largest art museum in the world. Its collection includes antiquities spanning 3,000 years. African, Oceanic and Japanese art as well as American art is on display.

Artist Ora Sorensen (orasorensen.com) was born in New York but grew up overseas. She has owned a gallery in Delray Beach, Florida for 20 years, and has also been represented by other galleries across the country. Sorensen now lives and paints in North Carolina, and her paintings are collected worldwide and have been shown in numerous exhibitions.
